JIGJAM

JIGJAM is a creative performance genre inclusive jam on the first Sunday of the month in Lava café. For too long, jam sessions and other creative events have been limited in their scope. Now is the time to unite the genres!

 

LOFI CREATORS

At 19h the scene will be set by Lofi Artists. Using Logic and Reason and other garage tools this is an ambient introduction to the creative revolution. There are only two slots of 15 mins available or one slot of 30 mins so please book in advance!

 

At 19:30 the Open Mic. begins with poetry, spoken word artists and comedians. There are only five slots of 5 mins (5mins x5) available or two slots of 10mins and two slots of 5mins (10mins x2 + 5 mins x2). Slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We will do our best to be flexible on the night but please come early to avoid disappointment!

 

At 20h we will feature Original Hour, a space for songwriters to perform and/or collaborate and in some cases perform original arrangements of traditional standards. Prepared songs or improvisation, however, will be the focus here. Four slots of 15mins are available (4x15mins) or less if it is busy. Please bring your instrument with you and a jack/cable if possible but if you are lucky you may be able to borrow an instrument. Priority, however, will be given to artists with an instrument. Again, slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

 

At 21h it is time for the Plug-in Jam Session. This space is reserved for people who wish to play together. It is a space for cover/tribute songs, rock, jazz, and blues standards. We ask that the singer is responsible for their 15 min set and leads the other musicians on stage; directing solo’s and endings. Four slots of 15mins are available (4x15mins) or less if it is busy. Please bring your instrument with you and a jack/cable if possible but if you are lucky you may be able to borrow an instrument. Priority, however, will be given to artists with an instrument. Again, slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We will do our best to be flexible on the night but please come early to avoid disappointment!

 

At 22h is the hour of the Acoustic Jam Session. A generally free-for-all space to join in, lead songs or sing along of any genre you fancy. This is a round-table turn oriented system of musical chairs meaning that we go round the table and everyone has a chance of leading a song. There may be pauses for poetry in different languages and the host may revolve the seating arrangements and ask certain people to play at different moments, otherwise around the table we go! Jam on until closing time!
